Chaos Reigns!

Posted by Annie on Jul 16, 2010 in Education |

It’s gotten off to a crazy summer. My niece and her family are staying with us and the fun wore off about three days into their stay. Now the heat has rolled in and we are expecting above 100 ° temperatures.

Trying to get any kind of meaningful schooling to take place has taken a back seat to simply getting through the day without becoming bald in the process. Just trying  keeping five children in line for  an entire day, without age appropriate toys and things is a real challenge. I feel like I’m being run ragged with questions and trying to keep some semblance of order in this chaos.

I simply don’t have the space I need to sit the kids down for some games or craft projects. We have a boy and girl – 5 & 6 respectively,  an 11-year-old boy, 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl. Trying to mesh house rules, chores and other various tasks and duties has been a real challenge.

Fortunately, by this time next week the confusion and endless running should all be behind me, at which time, I shall collapse from exhaustion, unable to speak or  communicate   anything in a coherent manner for several days. I’m looking forward to it.

Easy — very easy —  suggestions for children’s activities would be most appreciated. If you don’t have any suggestions, remember to say a quick prayer for us all. We can sure use them as my niece and her spouse search for employment and housing.

Thanks!
