Milk Goat Workshop
Have you ever considered raising your own goats? Do you like the idea of drinking farm fresh milk? This is your chance.
You are invited to attend the Family Milk Goat Workshop, presented by Tom and Renee Wade on Wild Rose Ranch in North San Juan, CA, on October 16, 2010.
Designed for anyone considering keeping a milk goat or two. This will be an active workshop. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with goats. We will tour the goat set-up on Wild Rose Ranch while covering these topics:
- Goat nutrition – hay, minerals, grain or no grain.
- What do goats actually eat?
- Safe handling of goats.
- Hoof care.
- Shelter – how much do goats need?
- Fencing – what does it take to contain a goat?
- How to work with moveable, electric net fencing.
- Predator protection.
- Using goats to reduce fire danger and enhance soil fertility.
- Setting up a milking routine and handling milk.
- Taking vacations while owning goats.
- Some of the different goat breeds.
- Questions as they arise.
The workshop runs from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Wild Rose Ranch on the San Juan Ridge.
Cost is $50 per family (or “goat partnership” of up to 3 adults). $25 for individuals. Children with a strong interest in goats are encouraged to attend when accompanied by an adult.
